A veritable UN of rhythm and melody, this wildly popular ensemble has built a diverse and loyal following during its 10 year history, by bringing a unique blend of World Music to Atlanta´s ever-growing

melting pot. The meaning behind the name “Rua 6,” which means “6th Street” in Portuguese, comes from two distinct points of origin. The band is entirely from Brazil, and started playing together at a club on 6th Street, in Atlanta.

Led by André Rievers, Vlamir Abbud, Rafael Pereira, Juan Bonini, and Cooper Tisdale, Rua 6 has recorded 3 albums and helped their home base venue, “Loca Luna,” receive the ranking of one of the Top 10 Latin Clubs in the country. Rua 6 was nominated “Best Latin Band of 2006,” by Creative Loafing, and received acclaim from Hispanic and Brazilian publications, for the release of their latest album “Live @ Loca Luna.” The band has performed as opening acts for Grammy Award winning artists as well as opening game performances for the Atlanta Hawks, and gala’s honoring the visits of the Peruvian and Nicaraguan Presidents. With their sights on touring and producing their 4th album in 2008, Rua 6 hopes to broaden their fan base, and promise to keep people dancing.
