love for the piano – his mother was a pianist.
Growing up, Ojeda had an amazing ear for music. While playing the piano and the clarinet, he was able to identity alternative harmonies, melodies and rhythms to the notes he was reading on his sheet music.
Ojeda has a Bachelor’s of English degree from Alabama State University, but it is the Jazz radio station that he listened to while attending Howard University that really influenced him musically. It was then that he decided that he wanted to play jazz. He has a Master’s Degree in American Studies and is a Ph.D. Candidate in American Studies at Emory University.
Ojeda spent 20 years teaching Jazz History at Emory University and introduced the first Jazz history course for the Afro-American Studies Program in 1973. He is now teaching at Atlanta Metropolitan College and performs his cool jazz at various night spots around the Metro Atlanta Area.
