Genetic Drift has been playing together as a unit since September of 2007. With encouragement from esteemed veterans

of the Atlanta music scene, Duane, Kevin and Nick decided to form a trio where their diverse influences in jazz, rock, and funk could be reflected in the most organic way possible with a strong emphasis on collective awareness, groove, and melody.
Guitarist Nick Johnson, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, moved to Atlanta in 2006 and quickly became an active member of Atlanta's music scene. He has played with some of South's greatest musicians including Yonrico Scott, Kofi Burbridge, Todd Smallie, Sam Skelton, Jeff Sipe, Grant Green Jr. and many others. Bassist Kevin Scott, of Dothan, AL, moved to Atlanta at the age of 19 and soon became a bass player of great demand. Kevin tours and records with the group Highly Kind, and has been sought out by the Sid Wolf Band, the Anton Harris Quartet, Ike Stubblefield, and Yonrico Scott. Drummer Duane Trucks of Jacksonville, FL, is also a member of the group Highly Kind and has shared the stage with the Allman Brothers, Cornell Dupree, Jerry Jermott, Bernard Purdie, the Eric Steckel Band, the Greg Barril Band, and many of Atlanta’s greats including Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Oliver Wood, and more.
