2008 Atlanta Jazz Festival in Woodruff Park
The City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs will present the 31st Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, May 24 – 26, 2008 in Woodruff Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
The move to Woodruff Park is a great happening as it affords the opportunity to celebrate Atlanta and all of its rich culture. This year’s festival will feature Atlanta based jazz artists during the 31 days in May and will culminate with family fun and music in Woodruff Park. The Atlanta Jazz Festival is regarded as one of the Country's largest free jazz festivals.
According to Mayor Shirley Franklin "The festival was formed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our city and has blossomed into a celebration of our nation's contribution to human expression. Music heals. It reaches deep within the human soul and soothes and nourishes the empty hearted and cultivates the spirit of community that surges through the City of Atlanta. The Atlanta Jazz Festival is one of the city's proudest traditions."
